Where This Step Fits in the Budgeting Process


Sometimes, you may need to charge for repair or maintenance work that wasn’t included in the original budget.

Where possible, it's good practice to include contingency amounts in the budget to cover unexpected costs. This ensures clients contribute in advance, helping you manage unplanned expenses without delay.

If no contingency was included, you can still invoice clients immediately rather than waiting for the budget reconciliation.

To do this, you can add the charge as explained in this article, and then raise the invoice by running an Amended Account as outlined in this article, which generates an invoice straight away so you can pay the contractor promptly.
