This article is part of the Client Payments section.
If you process a client payment to the wrong account, or you want to move funds between different areas of a client account you can do this with the Money Transfer process.
Moving Funds Between Client Accounts
- Navigate to the main Clients tab and use the filters to find the client account.
- Highlight the account you want to move funds out of, right-click and select Transfer Funds.

- This will open the Money Transfer window.

- The Transaction Date will default to the current date, but you can amend it to reflect the date the payment should have gone into the correct account.
- Move Funds From will default to Client Account.
- In the Move Funds To dropdown, select Client Account.
- In the Goods field, enter the amount to be transferred.
- Enter a Narrative to explain the transfer. This is mandatory.
- Select the client you want to transfer funds to from the Client Balance dropdown.
- Click Process.

- A pop-up will confirm the transfer was successful and provide you with a batch number. Click OK to dismiss.

- You will be able to see a Debit on the Transaction Activity tab of the original client and a Credit on the new client.

You cannot transfer funds to an exited client. Instead, select the exited client from the Move Funds From dropdown and enter a negative amount in the Goods field. Select the client you are transferring funds from in the Move Funds To dropdown.
Transferring Funds to other balances
You can use the same process to transfer funds between the main client balance and other areas e.g. Proposed Works, Float, Court Ledger
To do this, follow the same steps as above but change the Move Funds From / Move Funds To dropdowns to the relevant balance.
For example, to move funds from the client balance to a Proposed Work:
- Select Client Account from the Move Funds From dropdown.
- Select Proposed Work from the Move Funds To dropdown.
- In the PW Balance field, select which Proposed Work you want to credit.
You can also transfer funds to a Nominal account in this way.
