Debt Inhibition

Whilst an NOPL is registered against a property (and therefore the owner), a Debt Inhibition can be listed against the client.

To add a Debt Inhibition to a client, you will follow the same process as adding an NOPL.

  1. Click the Debt Inhibition button to open the Debt Inhibition screen.

  1. Enter your dates - Action InstructedEffective and Expiration. The expiry date will automatically set for 5 years, but you can amend this.

  2. Enter a Narrative.

  3. Click Save, and then OK on the pop up confirmation.

  4. A second pop-up will ask if you want to update the client's credit control status.

  5. If you have created a Debt Inhibition status type (see: Credit Control Status Types) then click Yes to open the Change Credit Control Status screen and place the client on that status.

You will now see a Narrative line on the Credit Control tab for the Debt Inhibition, and a second line for the new Credit Control Status, if selected in the previous step.

The Debt Inhibition Expiry will appear on the pin panel at the top of the client account screen.

Amending a Debt Inhibition

You can only have one Debt Inhibition on the client so when you click the Debt Inhibition button after entering one, it will bring up the previously entered details for you to amend.

You can also delete the Debt Inhibition from this screen.

When you delete an Debt Inhibition, a Narrative line will be entered into the grid on the Credit Control tab. You will need to resolve the status separately, if you changed this when the Debt Inhibition was added. For more information on how to resolve credit control statuses, see this article.

Alert
You may find that when trying to delete a sale, you cannot because of the Debt Inhibition on the account. If this happens, you can delete the Debt Inhibition using the Delete button on the Credit Control tab and then run your Sale Deletion in Client Global.

You can amend the amount of a Debt Inhibition by right clicking on the Narrative line in the Credit Control grid, and clicking Amend.
